I have owned several home gymn systems over the years and the Bowflex Home Gym has, by far, been the most effective because of it's ease of use. Because of this, my workouts are done more routinely and consistently. This is certainly the case with the SelectTech Dumbbells system. Not every gym system can cover everything you want to do as part of your exercise program. That's why I tried the SelectTech. There are targeted muscles I just could not challenge as effectively as I wanted ... and I couldn't afford much more floor space. The SelectTech system has turned out to be the best solution that I was looking for.

The dumbbells are great space savers, and I highly recommend them if you need dumbbells and have very limited space. But they have two drawbacks. 1) The plates get out of alignment too often causing a dial to stick. Sometimes it can take a few minutes to fix the problem which is frustrating during the middle of a workout. 2) The length of each dumbbell makes them a bit clumsy. The dumbbells are at full length regardless of whether they are set at 5 lbs. or 52.5 lbs. This makes certain dumbbell excercises hard to complete due to the length of each dumbbell.

I got tired of going to the gym and being surrounded by idiots. I already run, bike and swim outside so I didn't need the gym for my cardio. I decided to buy myself these dumbbells in order to continue my strength training. I love that each dumbbell goes from 5 to 52.5 lbs. That means I can still squat and deadlift upwards of 105 lbs. That's not as much as I could do at the gym but at least I won't go soft. I've been using the dumbbells for a few weeks now and couldn't be happier. They're easy to use and super compact. I live in a studio apartment and didn't have much space so needed something that wouldn't take up much space and these are perfect!

This is my second set of "Bowflex SelectTech 552 Dumbbells"; I had to sell my first set when I got layed-off from my job, but now that I'm working again I decided to order me another set.
These dumbbells are great!
So convenient to use, and they look great on the stand that I bought.
It is so easy to change the weight increment, you can go from one exercise to another in about 5 seconds.
Space savings are high with this set, no changing plates like my ancient iron set and no plates to lug around.
These dumbbells compliment my P90X workouts like nobody's business, which helps me keep up with Tony!

This product is amazing easy to change weights compact ideal to store in small spaces doesn't take up much room at all. i mostly do incline press and chest press, I would highly recommend this product to people who are serious about working out, but the down side is their a little too big but they still get the Job done

I purchased the SelectTech 552 weights to use with the Chalean Extreme program. Chalene Johnson uses these weights throughout her program as well. Although the price may seem high at first, if you were to purchase a pair of dumbbells at all of the different weights the can be adjusted to, you would spend far more money! I also love that I do not have multiple weights all over the place, and I actually keep these in the corner of my den where I work out in the mornings. I began weight training two weeks ago after three months of intense cardio for weight loss, and I can already see results from lifting weights. Definitely a purchase I will never regret!

I have very limited space in the home bedroom I use as a gym. The Dumbbells and stand takes up very little space and replaces an entire rack of free weights. Ease of use and flexibility make this the perfect solution when I need a quick workout and cannot take the time to get to the gym. This was a needed addition to my home workout routine. I use these during my P90x routine. I'm in my 4th month and my smaller hex dumbbells were no longer heavy enough for some of the moves and it was just getting too expensive to keep adding additional pairs of dumbbells every time I needed to increase the weight.

I have been waiting to get these weights for a while. They finally went on sale from Bowflex with a bench, the stand, and DVD set, so I jumped on it. I started working out immediately. I have had them for about a month now. I really like the versatility they seem very well built and I have had zero issues. There are only a couple things I can pick on them for. I noticed some battle scars on the plates from re-racking the dumbbell. Not a really big deal but something to keep in mind for when these are a bit older. The only other thing I have ran into is the size. Each dumbbell is considerably longer than it's iron counterpart. So when doing exercises such as military press, your range of motion is reduced when they touch each other. Again, not a big deal but something to think about. It might even be beneficial because you can't reach fully extended therefore always keeping the muscle under duress. All in all I am very happy with the purchase and would recommend to anyone with limited space.
