Comments about Bowflex SelectTech 4.1 Bench:

It works great for a wide variety of exercises. I was pleasantly surprised. When putting it together, go get your socket set. It will exponentially speed up assembly time. The declining back and seat are great features!

My issues are the large gap between seat and back when it lies flat and minimal leg padding. Depending on the length of your thighs, your butt might be right on or slipping into the empty area. bowflex needs to offer an insert to close that gap. The leg padding is sufficient, but not comfortable and they are very thin.

Comments about Bowflex SelectTech 4.1 Bench:

It works great for the intended use: for dumb bells. Great for ab work as well. I even use it to stretch on. Assembly was a bit tough because the holes do not line up nicely. The seat is a bit wide, takes getting use to. Big gap when flat between seat & back-- I fill in in with a foam yoga mat, no problem. Easy-peasy to adjust. I like how the seat inclines so you can't slip off when doing inclines. A bit wide to back onto with the d.b.'s in hand.
Overall, it works perfect with the bowflex dumbbells.

Comments about Bowflex SelectTech 4.1 Bench:

I enjoy this bench very much. You can workout from a decline position, flat bench position, two incline positions (like a 45 degree position and a 60 degree position) and the bench also goes into a 90 degree position. It has wheels so you can roll it away and it's a strong sturdy bench. Supports weight up to 480 pounds.

        • Q:

Is there a product available to fill the gap between the top of the seat and the base of the back bench when both are flatly aligned? My rear end falls right into this gap when doing abdominal work on a decline, so I just fill the space with a towel. A more comfortable spacer would be nice.

        • Q:

          Hi,
I don't understand why Bowflex has downgraded from the 5.1 to the 4.1 bench. 4.1 does not have the removable leg brace. There is only 5 seating positions as opposed to 6 with the 5.1. And the warrantee was better on 5.1 as well. What is the reason to discontinue the 5.1?
